Friendship impacts us on both a personal and a professional level. In the Arts, our circle of friends often includes other artists or creative-minded individuals, which can make for great collaborations. However, the blurring of social and professional boundaries adds a layer of complexity to existing relationships. Are there elements which are enhanced, compromised and/or lost when personal relationships bring with them professional gain? Can we remain honest and objective within this? How do we deal with conflict, power-shifts or evaluations? This public conversation invites us to share our thoughts and experiences in working with friends within creative contexts and the ways in which some of our most important relationships can cross over to our professional lives.
