Abstract

Cyber-Physical Systems denote a formal paradigm describing the integration of computation, networking, and physical processes that are expected to play a major role in the design and development of future engineering systems. Exploiting communication infrastructures and heterogeneous IT components have certainly improved scalability and functionality features in several applications, but on the other hand, due to their intrinsic complexity, these systems could be significantly vulnerable to cyber threats.

In this seminar a novel control architecture for secure and resilient control of Networked Constrained Cyber-Physical Systems is presented and, by resorting to set-theoretic control ideas and the physical watermarking concept, an implementation of the anomaly detector module and a control remediation strategy is proposed showing its potential to contrast severe Denial of Service and False Data Injection attacks.

Biography

Dr. Walter Lucia received the Ph.D. degree in Systems and Computer Science Engineering from the University of Calabria, Italy, in 2015.  He was a Visiting Research Scholar in the ECE Department at Northeastern University in 2013, and a Visiting Postdoctoral Researcher in the ECE Department at Carnegie Mellon University in 2015.  Dr. Lucia is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Informatics, Modeling, Electronics and System Engineering (DIMES) at the University of Calabria as a Postdoctoral Researcher. His current research interests include control of unmanned vehicles, switching systems, model predictive control and resilient and secure control of cyber-physical systems.
