The Office of Emergency Management is committed to promoting emergency preparedness and offers several training programs designed to better prepare individuals to deal with emergency situations.
This one-day (8-hour) basic first aid and CPR course is certified by the Quebec Heart and Stoke foundation. Participants will learn cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) as well as how to deal with a choking victim, common medical situations and trauma. Upon successful completion, candidates receive a certification card from the Heart and Stroke Foundation which is valid for 3 years.
The cost of the course is $65.00 per person.

This half-day (4-hour) CPR course is certified by the Quebec Heart and Stoke Foundation. Participants will also be introduced to and practice and AED (automated external defibrillator). Upon successful completion, candidates receive a certification card from the Heart and Stroke Foundation which is valid for 3 years.

This first aid course targets the treatment of severe allergic reactions (anaphylactic shock) and the administration of epinephrine. Upon completion of this course, participants are authorized to diagnose and treat anaphylactic shock by administering epinephrine via auto-injector to anyone with or without a prescription.
The cost of the course is $45.00 per person.

The Concordia Emergency Responder program (CERT) consists of staff and student volunteers who are trained to assist during emergency situations that occur on campus. During the orientation training, participants will be taught the role and responsibilities of CERT during an emergency and how to respond to different emergencies on campus.
This training is open to registered students and staff. *Staff must obtain authorization from their supervisor.

This course covers basic home and office fire prevention and emergency preparedness. The course will address the fundamentals of emergency preparedness, including a guide to 72 hours preparedness. The second half of the course will address basic fire prevention techniques including hands on training with a fire extinguisher on a real fire simulator.
This course is free for university staff and currently registered students. Non students and staff may register for the course at a cost of $45.00 per person.

This information session explores the phenomenon of active shooters in schools. The session consists of a presentation on the facts and myths surrounding active shooter events, identifying common behavior patterns and violence awareness and prevention, a training video and introduced to the universities emergency notification systems and procedures.
