Pandemic influenza

Suspension of daily reporting by each university unit or department of influenza-like illness

As of today (Jan. 7, 2010) the university is suspending its established process and mechanism (portal reporting system) to assist in assessing the prevalence of influenza-like illness amongst its employees. Until further notice, you will no longer need to submit a daily report via the portal.

The purpose of this reporting mechanism was to gauge the extent to which influenza-like illness was adversely impacting our university population and to help the university take appropriate action to prevent the spread of the virus. It now appears that the second wave of the H1N1 pandemic is in decline. However, in the event of a third wave, the reporting system may be re-activated.

We would like to thank the entire university community for their cooperation in containing the H1N1 pandemic and those involved in the daily reporting procedure. You will be notified by the university if the reporting of influenza-like illness is re-activated.

Thank you again for your cooperation.
