Concordia University has established a process and mechanism to assist in assessing the prevalence of influenza-like illness amongst its employees. Effective immediately, each unit or department must complete a daily report and departmental representatives will centralize all absences due to influenza-like illness through the university portal. Only absences related to influenza–illness will be reported. The purpose of this reporting mechanism is to gauge the extent to which influenza–like illness is adversely impacting our university population. In addition we will be forwarding this information to the Québec Ministry of Health. This statistical data will assist public health authorities in establishing strategies to deal with the H1N1 flu situation as it unfolds.
The university takes very seriously the health of employees. We strongly encourage you to consult the Québec Ministry of Health website and the university website www.concordia.ca/H1N1 to keep current with measures you can take to protect yourself, your colleagues, community members and your family, and university procedures regarding H1N1 influenza.
Thank you for your continued cooperation in assisting Concordia University in managing the flu season.
