Looking to support the next generation of student? Concordians — alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends — can support their university each time they charge a purchase.

With the Bank of Montreal (BMO) Concordia University MasterCard, a financial contribution is made to the university with every card swipe — at no cost to the cardholder.

“BMO has collaborated with Concordia on special offers for almost a decade,” says Michelle Grostern, BA 07, MA 11, alumni services and marketing coordinator at Concordia’s Advancement and Alumni Relations.

Proceeds directly support initiatives such as Concordia’s Backpack to Briefcase series and the Mentor Program, explains Grostern. Plus, cardholders can choose to earn Air Miles or cash back points.

“The card is also a way to show school pride,” says Grostern, noting university branding and maroon colouring are included in each affinity card.

Kenyan-born alumnus Andrew Mwachiro, BEng 11, knows the value of the card firsthand — as a student and now as a graduate.

“The card allowed me to pay for books and necessities like food while I was a student,” says Mwachiro.

“As a grad, I still make purchases on the card. It feels good to support programs that benefit students and alumni,” says Mwachiro.
