Community leaders distinguished at Concordia's 22nd Alumni Recognition Awards

It was a night to celebrate success as 150 people gathered for the Alumni Recognition Awards held at Montreal’s Sofitel Hotel on May 21. Eight distinguished individuals were recognized by the Concordia University Alumni Association (CUAA) for their various contributions to academia and society:

  • Alumnus of the Year Award: Walter S. Tomenson Jr., BA 68
  • Humberto Santos Award of Merit: Brian Edwards, BComm 71
  • Benoît Pelland Distinguished Service Award: The late Robert Barnes, BA 68
  • Honorary Life Membership: Peter Hall
  • MBA Alumnus of the Year: Julien Brisebois, EMBA 07
  • Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching: Martin Pugh
  • Outstanding Faculty/Staff Award: Nancy Curran
  • Outstanding Student Award: Eric Moses Gashirabake

The event was organized by Advancement and Alumni Relations and featured alumna and Global Montreal reporter, Jamie Orchard, BA 91, as master of ceremonies. Concordia President Alan Shepard was on hand to congratulate recipients.
