Concordia Stores to provide only digital course materials for Summer 1 term

April 9, 2020
|

As Concordia prepares to support the online delivery of the Summer 1 term starting May 4, 2020, it has become clear that it may not be realistic to rely on the timely arrival of hard-copy course material.

Many publishers and distributors have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Even if reduced staffing were not an issue at the source, there may well be shipping delays.

After careful consideration of the circumstances, it has been decided that Concordia Stores will carry and/or provide only digital course materials for the Summer 1 term.

Faculty members should submit their orders through the Textbook Adoption website available through the MyConcordia.ca portal. Students will have access to their booklist through concordiastores.ca.

Faculty may also wish to take advantage of the Library’s rich collection of digital resources to support their courses at no cost to their students. Options include:

  • working with their subject librarian to identify suitable eBooks, online videos, etc.;
  • curating a collection of digital articles, chapters, etc., through the Course Reserves service. (Please note that the Library will ensure copyright compliance); or
  • considering the adoption of an Open Textbook or other Open Educational Resource (OER) by browsing major OER Collections or contacting oer@concordia.ca.
