Dear Concordians,

Climate change is one of the most significant challenges of our time, and an important priority for the entire Concordia community.

In keeping with Concordia’s ongoing engagement in sustainability efforts and in recognition of the unique importance of the Climate March that is scheduled to take place in Montreal on the afternoon of Friday, September 27, the university is cancelling classes from 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is to allow students to attend the March should they choose. Professors will let their students know whether a make-up session will be scheduled.

Please note that the university will remain open on September 27. All other services and activities will continue as usual, including Continuing Education classes and the Shuffle 30 taking place that day.

Should they wish, Concordians are welcome to sign up for the Shuffle for the Climate team — led by Cassandra Lamontagne, Sustainability Coordinator at Concordia — that will leave from Concordia to join the Climate March at the George-Étienne Cartier Monument.

Faculty and staff who are not participating in either of the Shuffles are expected to be at work as per their usual schedule.

Shuttle bus users should note that service may be disrupted by downtown traffic during the Climate March.

Any questions, comments or concerns can be sent to internalcomms@concordia.ca.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Graham Carr
Interim President and Vice-Chancellor
