Dear Concordians,

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that I have accepted the presidency of Western University. I will finish my term at Concordia in June 2019.

Concordia and Montreal welcomed my family and me warmly in 2012. The positive atmosphere you all created inspired me to meet the high standards we share. My sincere thanks to so many of you for all your great work. Our achievements together are reflected in many ways – our record applications, enrolment, and research funding; our steady climb in rankings; and the success of The Campaign for Concordia: Next-Gen. NOW, to name a few. Concordia is on the move, and the world knows it.

The buzz we’ve all created comes thanks to the unique Concordia community – students, faculty, staff, alumni and our many friends. Everywhere I go, down the hall or around the globe, I’m impressed with Concordians. Dynamic. Open-minded. We stand out. That’s Concordia’s DNA. It precedes me, and will continue on in the future.

What will also endure is Concordia’s strong mission and momentum. Our alumni take pride in telling me how well Concordia has prepared them to meet and solve challenges to improve our world for the next generation. I look forward to carrying on that mission together over the next seven months and admiring it in the decades to come. I will always be a huge fan of Concordia.

Alan Shepard
President
