Concordia tests its emergency notification system

What you need to do for timely notifications
November 2, 2018
|

On November 8, Concordia will conduct a test of the university emergency notification system. This will involve:

  • Posting a pop-up message on computers with the Alertus desktop application
  • Sending out a notification to smart phones with the Alertus app
  • Sending to registered faculty and staff an automated email message from emergency.management@concordia.ca
  • Posting messages on Twitter: twitter@concordia911
  • Sending an automated telephone message from 514-848-8800 to registered faculty and staff
  • Posting messages on the Concordia emergency management Facebook page

Please be prepared

For Concordia to issue timely notifications when emergencies occur, we need your help:

  • We encourage everyone to download the Alertus mobile app on your smart phone and/or tablet. It’s free and available from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. When you’re prompted for an organizational code, just type in “Concordia.”
  • If you’re on Twitter, we encourage you to follow @concordia911.
  • We ask staff and faculty to make sure they’re registered for emergency alerts by checking that contact information is up-to-date on MyHR profile, located in the “employee services section” on the MyConcordia portal.
  • We also ask staff and faculty to provide cell and home phone numbers, as well as an alternative email address.
