October 1:  Election Day in Quebec

Under the Quebec Election Act, students are given the day off to vote.

This means all instructional activities at Concordia, including classes, tutorials, labs and studio sessions are cancelled on Monday, October 1, 2018.

Make-up date: Sunday, September 30

With the fall term starting on a Tuesday and the Thanksgiving civic holiday falling on a Monday, we had already scheduled a make-up day on Tuesday, December 4. Since exams start on Wednesday, December 5, we could not find a weekday to hold an additional make-up day.

As a result, Sunday, September 30, 2018 has been selected as the make-up day.

Professors to notify students

Professors are responsible for notifying their students about whether classes or other academic activities, normally held on October 1, are to be rescheduled on September 30.

Concordia to close at 4 p.m. on October 1

Under the Quebec Election Act, faculty and staff are allowed to take four consecutive hours to vote. Concordia will close its administrative offices at 4 p.m. on October 1 to provide faculty and staff with the required time to vote.
