August 13, 2018 –  During the week of August 7, the cooling system in the EV Building (Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex) was operating at reduced capacity.

Concordia has been working diligently to restore the cooling system to its full capacity. We anticipate that this situation will be resolved within the coming weeks.

In the meantime, the EV Building remains open and all activities are being held as scheduled.

People working or studying in the EV Building may experience warmer than usual temperatures and higher humidity.

In light of this reduced cooling capacity and current heat wave, we encourage people to take frequent breaks and to keep hydrated by drinking water. Other strategies include:

  • Closing fume hoods when not in use;
  • Keeping your blinds closed to reduce exposure to heat;
  • Going to air conditioned buildings for breaks and lunch;
  • Minimizing work that demands high physical exertion outdoors or in areas without air conditioning during very hot days;
  • Limiting time outdoors; and
  • Wearing light and loose clothing.

Faculty, staff or students who have concerns or questions can contact Environmental Health and Safety at (514) 848-2424, ext. 4877.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.

On August 7, the EV Building (Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex) is experiencing an unplanned reduced capacity of its cooling system. Concordia is currently working to resolve the issue over the next week. However, the EV Building remains open.

During this time, fume hoods should be closed when not in use. Where possible, we encourage you to keep your blinds closed to reduce exposure to heat.

As result, these classes have been relocated from August 7 to Monday, August 13:

Tuesday, August 7

  • ARTH-262-CA has been reolocated to MB 2.445
Wednesday, August 8
