1.  Kick off terrace season

Lancement des terrasses au Quartier Latin | Saint-Denis, corner of Sherbrooke | May 25 starting at 5 p.m., May 26 starting at 3 p.m.

The most beautiful time of the year in Montreal has finally arrived — terrace season! Celebrate the city's street scene in true local fashion at Quartier Latin’s official launch. 

Over the weekend, Saint-Denis will be transformed into a festive pedestrian walkway between Sherbrooke and De Maisonneuve, complete with musical performances, local artisans and, of course, plenty of tables, chairs and bevvies. Take a seat and enjoy this special oh-so-Montreal rendezvous.

2.  Visit Asia in Montreal

Wind of Asia l Festival Accès Asie l Place Èmilie-Gamelin l May 25 starting at noon, May 26 starting at 3 p.m.

Tour the Orient without ever leaving town during Wind of Asia, a free two-day outdoor event that promises much dazzle and awe. Listen to the sound of Japanese percussion and the oud. Or watch as four Chinese, Filipino and Middle Eastern dance troupes take to the stage.

3.  Enjoy a fiery vernissage

CIRCA: FEU l Réseau Accès culture l Maison de la culture du Plateau Mont-Royal l May 10 to June 10 | Vernissage on May 10 at 5 p.m.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, CIRCA Art Actuel has created a special exhibition that explores fire and its role in building civilizations. FEU includes works by 14 artists, including sculptures, installations, photography and video.

4.  Stop to smell the flowers

Ikebana: Life in Bloom l Montréal Botanical Garden l May 19, 20 and 21

The Montreal chapter of Ikebana International has taken floral arrangements to a whole new level, creating a veritable feast for the eyes with their latest Life in Bloom exhibit. Stop by the Botanical Garden to catch this special display dedicated to miniature arrangements and to learn more about this beautiful art form.

5.  Catch some Reel Big Fish

Reel Big Fish l Pouzza Fest | Le Parterre du Quartier des spectacles | May 19 at 9 p.m.

Revel in nostalgia as you rock out — for free — to Reel Big Fish at Pouzza Fest. The American ska punk band is best known for their 1997 single “Sell Out.” Revel in the sounds of the 90s as you enjoy the ambiance of Montreal's own punk festival.
