On April 16 , Marie-Claude Lavoie will assume her new role as associate vice-president of Facilities Management at Concordia.

Lavoie’s most recent role was director of Property Management and Planning Services with the City of Montreal, where she was responsible for a team of over 700 employees and the strategic plan of 674 buildings.

Roger Côté, Concordia’s vice-president of Services, says Lavoie will be an asset as Concordia develops a Master Space Plan.

“Marie-Claude is a broadly experienced senior administrator who understands higher education. Her background with government authorities brings much value to the university. She will be a good fit in advancing our strategic development plans and facilities operations,” says Côté.

Committed to life-long learning, Lavoie holds a Master’s in Environmental Engineering from ETS, a Master’s in Training from UQAM, a Bachelor in Business Administration from UQAM and certificates in Administration of Service, Management and Real Estate.

Lavoie also previously worked as the central area superintendent for the Université de Montréal’s Building Operations.

Lavoie replaces Michel Nadeau, who passed away in September after two years in the role. At the time, Nadeau was hard at work on projects such as the expansion of the Loyola Campus science facilities, a new conference centre for the John Molson Building (MB), and wellness and success centres for students.

Facilities director Martine Lehoux has been the acting associate vice-president of Facilities Management since September, and has served the community well during this difficult transition period.

“Lehoux has been a tremendous colleague, stepping into her interim leadership role with great success. I am grateful for her support and dedication,” says Côté.

Concordia’s real estate portfolio includes 61 buildings and nearly 500,000 square metres of floor space. Lavoie will oversee all units within Facilities Management, which include Facilities Planning and Development, Property Management, Project Management, Administrative Services and all related programs, including building performance and sustainability.
