Striding towards sustainability
Concordia has received approval from the Board of Governors and Senate to move forward with its proposed sustainability policy.
Putting down on paper Concordia’s long-term commitment, this new policy outlines the guiding principles that will assist with the integration of sustainability into university activities.
Defined as “a mindset and process that leads to reducing our ecological footprint and enhancing social well-being while maintaining economic viability both on and off campus,” sustainability will apply to all of Concordia.
Concordia commits to adopting sustainability as a core value through its strategic planning, commitments, actions and communications. Long-term plans and goals will be developed in consultation with the university community.
Progress will be monitored and periodically reported in the spirit of accountability and transparency. Every five years, the policy will undergo review by the Sustainability Advisory Committee, with input from Concordia's community.
