The most effective way to stay informed in case of an emergency is by downloading the Alertus + application through the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Simply enter “concordia” as the domain and “3717” as the PIN. The app will notify you immediately should an incident occur.
Other ways to stay informed
The SMS emergency notification service is still available, though it should be noted that its messages take longer to be sent out. Check your subscription through the MyConcordia portal or the Student Information System (SIS).
If you’re connected on social media, "like" the Concordia University Office of Emergency Management Facebook page, or follow their Twitter feed for regular updates.
Staff and faculty will be notified by phone, email, the Alertus mobile app and computer pop-ups.
Members of the community who are on campus will hear a building public address through the intercom system that will indicate what the next steps should be. Please follow the instructions.
When warranted, notifications are posted to the university’s homepage and to Cspace. There’s also a telephone hotline with recorded messages in the event of a crisis that can be called anytime: 514-848-8800.
