To the Concordia community,

Today, Premier Philippe Couillard shuffled his cabinet and we have a new minister.

I would like to welcome Minister of Education and Higher Education Pierre Moreau to his important role and congratulate him on his appointment. Mr. Moreau has held a number of positions in government and his experience will serve him well in his new post. I look forward to working with him to ensure that Quebec’s universities are seen as a priority and that we receive the support and funding necessary to thrive.

A healthy higher education sector plays a key role in developing the next generation of engaged citizens.  Like all universities, Concordia strives, every day and at every level, to fulfill its mission of teaching and research to improve lives, so that our society will be enriched — in every sense.  Higher education must be at the top of every progressive, forward-thinking society’s list of priorities.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the members of the premier’s cabinet and wish them well.

Alan Shepard
President
