For the second time this month, Concordia has ranked among the top 500 universities worldwide, this time according to data gathered for the British-based Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2015-16.

The university’s position in the 401-500 category is due to the reputation of its published research as well as its international faculty and student body.

For three of the five measurements in the Times Higher Education rankings, Concordia improved its performance. The university’s score on the impact of research citations from faculty members rose along with its international outlook, which measures the percentage of international faculty and students as well as the international co-authorship of research papers.

Concordia also ranked higher in a survey on the reputation of its academic research.

“Once again, a reputable international ranking has taken note of the ever-increasing strength, relevance and impact of Concordia’s research activities,” says Benoit-Antoine Bacon, provost and vice-president of Academic Affairs.

Of the estimated 18,000 universities worldwide, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings analyzed data from more than 1,100 institutions and ranked the top 800.

Earlier this month, Concordia recorded its highest ever position in the QS World University Rankings, with the fourth consecutive increase over as many years landing the university in the 411-420 range of institutions the world over.

The QS rankings noted the increased presence and influence of Concordia researchers in scholarly publications and the university’s increasingly favourable reputation among employers. Concordia also scored well for the international make up of its faculty and student body.
