August 25, 2016

The City of Montreal is performing the final paving of Guy Street beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, aiming to finish by 6 a.m. on Monday morning.

Avoiding the area during this time is highly recommended. Local residents will still have access to their parking garages but are warned that access may not be immediate.

April 7, 2016

The City of Montreal is installing new lamp posts on Guy Street the week of April 11.

The work will take two to three days and restrict access to the sidewalk on the east side along the exterior of the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Complex (EV Building). Pedestrians are encouraged to use the lobby of the EV or the west side of Guy Street.

A final repaving of the entirety of Guy Street will take place in May or June. During these operations, the parking and traffic lanes will be occasionally impeded, but traffic in both directions will be maintained at all times.

Check back here over the coming weeks for specific dates.

November 16

As of Thursday, November 26, all of the bus stops that had been temporarily relocated will return to Guy Street, just outside the Guy-Concordia metro station. See the map below for the affected lines.

November 5

Guy Street will be partially closed between De Maisonneuve Boulevard and Sherbrooke Street tonight, November 5, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Thursday, November 6. Guy Street will be accessible only from Lincoln Avenue, heading south to De Maisonneuve. Access to parking lots will be maintained, but the east sidewalk will be completely closed.

September 30

The temporary above-ground water pipes have been removed. The west side of Guy Street between Ste-Catherine Street and De Maisonneuve Boulevard has been paved. The west side has re-opened to vehicles and pedestrians, and the east side is now closed to traffic.

Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, October 1, reconstruction of the sidewalks next to the EV Building begins. While a temporary passage will allow pedestrian circulation, it may be tight in some areas. It is recommended to walk inside the EV and GM buildings to get from Ste-Catherine to De Maisonneuve and vice versa.

August 26

The bus stops that were relocated to St-Marc (numbers 57, 66, 165, 166, 369, 427 and 435) will move once again on Monday, August 31, this time just north of De Maisonneuve Boulevard. Check out the map below for full details, and see the STM pagethat is also updated regularly.

August 19

The partial closure of the Guy-De Maisonneuve intersection has been extended to August 29. Crews will continue to work around the clock, weather permitting, as they have been since August 13.

The City of Montreal implores all drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to exercise vigilance and to follow the posted signs.

August 17

Access to the entrances of the EV and MB buildings have been restored, as well as the metro.

August 14

As a result of construction on Guy St., access to the main entrance of the MB building is closed. Access the building via the south entrance next to the TD Building, or through the tunnel in the EV Building.

Access to the Guy St. entrances to the metro and the EV building have been closed. The metro can be accessed only via the Ste-Catherine St. entrance to the EV Building or through the GM Building on De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.

August 11

The closure of Guy Street between Ste-Catherine Street and De Maisonneuve Boulevard has now been set for Thursday, August 13, for about nine days. Download this map of the detour created by the City of Montreal.

August 10

The road closure has been delayed by a few days. Guy Street from Ste-Catherine Street to De Maisonneuve Boulevard will be closed later this week. Bookmark this page for updates.

August 6

Due to an unforeseen issue with the construction on Guy Street, the road will be closed entirely from Ste-Catherine Street to De Maisonneuve Boulevard from August 7 to 17.

The intersection of Guy and De Maisonneuve will be partially closed.

The bicycle path will be interrupted at the intersection. Users should walk their bikes and follow city signage to navigate the intersection. One northbound lane of Guy Street remains open from De Maisonneuve, however congestion is to be expected. During this time, work will be performed 24/7.

During this time, it’s more important than ever to Be Aware. Move with Care.

See the announcement from the City of Montreal (in French).

June 25

The City of Montreal has installed temporary water mains that may pose a challenge to the mobility impaired. The large pipes were laid above ground along the sidewalks and ramps have been made at the intersections. These ramps are steep in some areas. If this poses a challenge, please consider using the tunnel from the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (EV Building) to access the John Molson (MB) Building.

Water shutdowns required to switch the buildings from the permanent system to the temporary system will be done overnight to minimize any inconvenience.

This summer, the City of Montreal is beginning major infrastructure work on Guy Street between Sherbrooke and Ste-Catherine.

Starting June 15, Guy will be dug up in order to rebuild sewer and secondary water lines, as well as electrical infrastructure. Once this work is complete, the street will be repaved, broken sidewalks repaired and new lighting installed.

Work will be performed throughout the fall, but will stop over winter. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by spring 2016.

The EV-MB tunnel should not be affected.

Due to the planned construction, the bus stops of seven bus lines will be moved to adjoining streets as of June 29, 2015. They are bus numbers 57, 66, 165, 166, 369, 427 and 435.
