President presents Ryerson diversity award

Concordia President Alan Shepard revisits Ryerson University to present award for equity, diversity and inclusion that carries his name.

Concordia President Alan Shepard attended Ryerson University’s second annual Awards Night on April 4, where he presented the inaugural Alan Shepard Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award to three recipients. The award recognizes the outstanding achievements of an individual, team or organization in the Ryerson community who advance equity, diversity and inclusion.

Before joining Concordia as president in August 2012, Shepard was provost and vice-president, Academic, for five years at Ryerson, where his achievements included the championing of diversity and social justice. In June 2012, Ryerson named Denise O’Neil Green as its first assistant vice-president/vice-provost equity, diversity and inclusion.
