Pietro Gasparrini appointed director, Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability

Gasparrini will be responsible for leading all program development and client service improvements

The Senior Director of Environmental Health, Safety and Security, Richard Young, is pleased to announce the appointment of Pietro Gasparrini to the position of director, Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability, effective January 21. 

Reporting to Young, Gasparrini is responsible for leading all environmental health and safety functions, including program development and client service improvements.

“Pietro brings a dynamic mix of experience, education and institutional knowledge to the team,” says Young. “He will continue to be a valuable asset to the team.”

With more than 10 years of experience managing worksite health and safety, Gasparrini joined Concordia in 2012 as manager of the environmental health and safety team, located on the Loyola Campus. He was responsible for overseeing the university’s laboratory safety program (biosafety, radiation safety and laser safety), laboratory inspection program and hazardous waste management.

An alumnus of Concordia University, Gasparrini obtained a BSc (honours) in chemistry with a minor in French studies. He was also a member of the Institute for Co-operative Education. Additionally, Gasparrini earned a master’s of applied science in occupational health sciences from McGill University and is a certified industrial hygienist by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
