Concordia requests conciliation in CUFA talks

A message from the Interim Provost and Vice-President, Academic Affairs

Dear colleagues,

I am writing to let you know that this afternoon, the university has asked the Ministry of Labour to appoint a conciliator for the negotiations currently underway with CUFA.

The university and CUFA have been negotiating for some time now. As we appear to be far apart on some issues, we would like to have the help of an impartial third party.

Conciliation involves a neutral third party knowledgeable in effective negotiation procedures. A conciliator helps in the collective bargaining process, and may make recommendations on the matter but has no authority to impose decisions.

I look forward to continuing negotiations with CUFA with the help of a conciliator early in the new year.

Sincerely,

Lisa Ostiguy
Interim Provost and Vice-President, Academic Affairs
