Every year, Concordians can count on certain events that take place on campus. Like clockwork, once the Concordia Centraide campaign kicks off, there is an inaugural pasta lunch on each campus to kickstart the fundraising for this important campaign.

This year, the Sir George Williams Campus was host to the first pasta lunch on November 1 in the lobby of the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex. The event drew in new volunteers and raised $1,285.

"We are extremely pleased with the success of our pasta lunches each year. It is especially heartwarming to see the Concordia community come together to support Centraide,” says Enza De Cubellis, a member of the Centraide Committee and director of administration for the Office of the Vice-President, Institutional Relations and Secretary-General, which runs the campaign for Concordia.

The next pasta lunch will be held on Thursday, November 15 on the Loyola Campus, in the Richard J. Renaud Science Complex between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

If pasta is not your thing, there are other ways to donate to the campaign. De Cubellis reminds members of the Concordia community that donating through the university’s campaign means their names are automatically entered in a prize draw.  “As soon as you donate online, whether it’s by credit card or through a payroll deduction, whether it’s a one-time donation or monthly, your name is entered in the draw. Or even if you hand in a pledge form, as long as you donate through the Concordia campaign, you’re in.”

Weekly prizes are given to members who have donated to the campaign, and are announced on the Concordia Centraide site in the Winners’ Circle.

Other events will be announced throughout the campaign. One such event is the Sweet Day for Centraide Bake Sale that took place on Monday, November 12 and was hosted by eager bakers and sellers across both campuses. This yummy initiative helped raise $3,252. If you’d like to get involved and organize your own event, please contact the Centraide committee at centraide@concordia.ca.

The Concordia campaign officially ends on Tuesday, December 4 with the final pasta lunch in the lobby of the J.W. McConnell Library Building (1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.) between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
