The Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies invites Concordia graduate students and full-time faculty to submit applications for research funding for projects that contribute to Israel studies in all of its facets.

“It’s been a remarkable year since the Azrieli Institute was inaugurated in the summer of 2011,” says Norma Joseph, co-director of the Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies and Associate Professor of Religion.

“We have welcomed our academic advisory group and affiliated scholars, moved into new facilities, launched a new website and are now pleased to announce that we’re accepting applications for faculty and graduate research funding for the 2012-2013 academic year.”

Funding is available in three categories:

Graduate fellowships:

Current Concordia graduate students can apply for one of two graduate fellowships, valued at $7,000 each.

Post-doctoral fellowships:
Applicants with a completed, or nearly completed, PhD can apply for a $24,000 post-doctoral fellowship.

Support for faculty research
Full-time faculty members can apply for research funds to carry out their research in Israel Studies.

“A strong and solid foundation has been set and we are now well on our way to fulfilling our mandate of promoting faculty-based projects, stimulating research and teaching, and contributing to the study of Israel in all of its facets,” concludes Csaba Nikolenyi, co-director of the institute and professor and chair of the Department of Political Science.

Funding applications for the 2012-13 academic year should be submitted by July 31, 2012, to the co-directors at azrieliinstitute@concordia.ca.
