Meet our new Board members

Berdugo Adler, Brodhead and Lyrette appointed to Concordia's Board of Governors

Concordia’s Board of Governors appointed three new members at its November 17 meeting. All three begin their terms immediately with a mandate until June 30, 2013. The candidates were recommended
by the Board’s newly formed Governance and Ethics Committee, which recommends the experience and expertise profiles used in appointing Board members.

Joelle Berdugo Adler has made her mark both as a corporate leader and a philanthropist. She is president and CEO of Diesel Canada Inc. and founder of the ONEXONE (One by One) charitable foundation.

She studied commerce at Concordia at night while working full-time. Her education helped her, alongside her husband and partner Louis Adler, to build Diesel Canada’s success as a division of the fashion brand.

In addition to her corporate success, Berdugo Adler established a charitable foundation that evolved into ONEXONE, improving the lives of children. Berdugo Adler and her family are also the main benefactors for the Hope & Cope Wellness Centre that supports cancer survivors through the Jewish General Hospital’s adjunct services.

She was granted an honorary doctorate from Concordia University in 2010.

Tim Brodhead
Tim Brodhead recently retired as president and CEO of the Montreal-based J.W. McConnell Family Foundation, which improves the quality of life and strengthening communities across Canada.

After participating in development work in Africa and South Asia, Brodhead co-founded Inter Pares, an Ottawa-based non-governmental organization promoting international social justice.

His support of education and research is demonstrated by his service on the board of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. He is past chair of Philanthropic Foundations Canada, the national association of Canadian independent foundations.

In 2001, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.

Jacques Lyrette
Jacques Lyrette is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering with a long career in research and development in the public sector, focusing on technology and communications.

As president and CEO of Gestion Jacma Management, he uses his knowledge of federal and provincial policy to advise organizations on business models and strategies.

He serves as COO for Innovative Materials Technologies. Previously, he served as CEO for ADGA Inc., an engineering consulting company with offices throughout Canada and Europe.

He is chair of the Industrial Advisory Council Committee for Concordia’s Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science.
