“Given the volatile situation in Japan we are asking Concordia students, faculty and staff to defer any projected travel to Japan for university affairs,” says Acting Vice-President Services, Roger Cote. “This advisory is for the foreseeable future until the situation stabilizes. We will notify the university community when the situation changes.”

The university requires all students, faculty or staff travelling for research, conferences, academic or university-related projects to register their whereabouts through the MyConcordia Portal. The travel registry is located in the portal under “Other Services”.  The university also has a Policy on Travel outside of Quebec. The Policy and Registry were developed in order to encourage and support the safety of faculty, staff and students while travelling outside of Quebec and to ensure that Concordia University is kept apprised of the whereabouts of individuals travelling on university business.

Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada provides general information, travel warnings and other important information to consider before leaving the country.

If needed, members of the Concordia community can call Concordia 24/7 for assistance while traveling on university business.  By calling security collect at 514-848-3717, the emergency travel procedure will be initiated to assist people in need outside of the province.
