Helping researchers “do no harm”
Posted on April 25, 2018

Jessica Bardill, Assistant Professor of English, works at the intersection of indigenous community outreach and scientific practice. Recently, she authored a paper, published in the journal Science, about how to reduce harm to indigenous communities while doing paleogenetic research on ancestral remains.

Following an article published in Phys.org, Canadian publications took notice with CBC Indigenous, and ICI Radio-Canada publishing stories in English and French respectively. The story was then republished by Yahoo News Canada, Science Daily and a number of other online publications bringing Professor Bardill's message of "do no harm" to a wide audience in Canada and the United States.
