André Gagné, associate professor in the Faculty of Arts and Science (Department of Theological Studies) can speak about the terror attack in Manchester where 22 people were killed and 59 injured at an Ariana Grande concert. The Manchester attack is in some ways similar to that of the Bataclan in Paris on November 13th, 2015. Professor Gagné can explain why such terror events have been perpetrated in public places or events. He can also speak on ISIS's claim of the attack, as well as the online activity of the group's sympathizers who proclaim and defend such terrorist actions.

Kyle Matthews, executive director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS), can also talk about the attack. Matthews says: "The terrorist attack that struck a concert in Manchester in the United Kingdom once again showcases the Western world is not immune to violent extremism. This deliberate targeting of youth is not just an act of terrorism but also a crime against humanity."
