On Thursday, March 9 Barbie celebrates her 58th birthday. Mattel introduced the popular doll in 1959 and it's estimated over a billion Barbie dolls have been sold worldwide. Sandra Chang-Kredl, assistant professor in the Department of Education in the Faculty of Arts and Science and an expert in children's popular culture, can talk about how Barbie has evolved over the years.
