Montreal as a Sanctuary City

As U.S. President Donald Trump vows to introduce a revamped executive order restricting immigration or refugee applicants, increasing numbers of asylum seekers are now crossing the border into Canada, hoping to make new lives here. The mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre has announced his intention of adopting the designation of sanctuary city pending approval from the Quebec government. What would the designation entail and what impact might it have? Chedly Belkhodja, an expert on the integration of immigrants, can take a critical look at the new measure.
