  • The Toronto Star and the National Observer report that the Saskatchewan government, reacting to a news piece involving the investigative work of journalism students at Concordia and other universities, defends its efforts to strengthen its oversight of sour gas management within the oil and gas industry in the province. Work on the investigative piece, 'The Price of Oil', was led by Patti Sonntag, New York Times managing editor, visiting Concordia lecturer and Concordia alumna. Sonntag and her team examined government and industry response to the threat of hydrogen sulphide gas emissions from fracking operations at shale oil wells in Saskatchewan.
  • Radio-Canada.ca (reprised by Sympatico) reports that the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) will adjust its football ranking procedures to account for the cancellation of yesterday's game between the Concordia Stingers and the Université de Montréal Carabins. The game was pulled following an outbreak of gastroenteritis among Carabins players and staff. In related news, La PresseLe Journal de MontréalTVA Sports and Canoe report that Carabins head coach Danny Maciocia is unhappy with the cancellation and had hoped to see the game rescheduled to next Monday, October 9.
