  • Global National features 'The Price of Oil' — a journalistic investigation led by Concordia and other Canadianjournalism students who worked with Patti Sonntag, New York Times managing editor, visiting Concordia lecturer and Concordia alumna. The investigative journalism team looked at Saskatchewan's oil industry and examined government and industry response to the threat of hydrogen sulphide gas emissions from fracking operations at shale oil wells in Saskatchewan. Global's accompanying text story was co-written by Sonntag and reprised by 24 365 News. The National Observer publishes another in a series of reports on 'The Price of Oil'.
  • Concordia Stingers football quarterback Trenton Miller was interviewed by Andrew Carter on CJAD Radio this morning (no link available) about the hit to the head he suffered in a recent game against the Université Laval Rouge et Or and about his efforts to alert public opinion to head injuries in football.
  • Info Dimanche announces that Concordia student Jean-Pascal Dumont has won a $2,500 CHNGR Bursary and will act as a social innovation and entrepreneurship ambassador on campus. The CHNGR program was established through the RECODE Concordia initiative, funded by the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation.
  • Le Journal de Montréal reports that there are two Concordia students among the seven Quebecers in the running for Miss Universe Canada: Amanda Cassavant and business student Shany Bolte. The pageant winner will be known this Saturday, October 7.
  • Journal Métro writes that Concordia history and philosophy student Salman Farah will run for a Montreal city council seat in the Côte-de-Liesse district in November's municipal elections.
