Expert commentators

Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • The National Post reprises an opinion piece from The Conversation Canada, written by Yasmin Jiwani, professor of communication studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science and Concordia University Research Chair in Intersectionality, Violence & Resistance. Jiwani examines the passage of Quebec's Bill 62, banning face coverings for those using or delivering public services in the province. She believes the legislation ultimately serves a far-right-wing agenda.
  • Daniel Salée, political science professor in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is quoted in a CBC News analytical text piece, reprised by Re Publish, about confusion surrounding Quebec's new legislation, Bill 62,  banning face coverings for people giving or receiving provincial or municipal public services.
  • Chinese Canadian Voice and Dushi (both in Chinese) pick up a CBC text story about Bill 62 quoting Chedly Belkhodja, principal of and professor in the School of Community and Public Affairs in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
  • Graham Dodds appears in studio with Mutsumi Takahashi on CTV Montreal's News at Noon to discuss the controversy around U.S. President Trump's handling of the deaths of four American servicemen in a secretive operation in Niger.
  • Gazette des Femmes quotes Elizabeth Fast, assistant professor of applied human sciences in the Faculty of Arts and Science and special advisor to the provost on Indigenous programs at Concordia, in a piece about the 'Foyer pour femmes autochtones de Montréal'  — a refuge for First Nations women in Montreal.
  • Hillary Kaell, associate professor of religions and cultures in the Faculty of Arts and Science, interviews University of Victoria anthropology professor Daromir Rudnyckyj about the book he co-edited, Religion and the Morality of the Market. Kaell conducted the interview for the New Books and Religion podcast.
