Expert commentators

Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • André Gagné, associate professor of theological studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is interviewed on CBC Radio One outlets across the country about ISIS. The focus is on the loss of control by ISIS of the northern Syrian city of Raqqa, which the Islamic State had regarded as the capital of its declared Calipĥate. Gagné was heard on CBC stations in Gander, Quebec City, Toronto (the segment with Gagné begins at the 2:15 mark), Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, and Vancouver.
  • CTV News Montreal, (video and text) reporting on the passage of Quebec's Bill 62 and the requirement that Quebecers not wear a face covering when giving or receiving public services, talks to Kimberley Manning, associate professor of political science and principal of the Simone de Beauvoir Institute in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Manning, seen at the 1:35 mark of the news report, says the legislation is discriminatory and exclusionary.
  • Moshe Lander, economics lecturer in the Faculty of Arts and Science, spoke to Anna Maria Tremonti, host of CBC Radio's 'The Current' about politicized efforts to secure a deal for the construction of a new NHL arena for the Calgary Flames. The Lander segment begins at the 1:03:45 mark. Canada.com reprises an article form the National Post quoting Lander about the Flames arena.
