Expert commentators

Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • Concordia University Public Scholar DesirĂ©e de Jesus, doctoral candidate in Film and Moving Images Studies, writes an opinion piece in the Montreal Gazette (reprised in The Province) to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, today. De Jesus challenges prevailing attitudes about female body image and about body-shaming of girls and women.
  • Graham Dodds, associate chair of and associate professor in the Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Arts and Science, was interviewed by Mutsumi Takahashi on CTV Montreal's News at Noon about the American constitutional right to bear arms, U.S. gun culture and the polarizing debate around gun control.
  • Emer O'Toole, assistant professor in the School of Irish Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science, writes an opinion piece about body image, published in The Guardian and reprised by Equities. The piece focuses on strong, negative reaction to a fashion advertising picture showing a female model with unshaven legs.
