The Centre for the Arts in Human Development Honours Gary Schwartz

The Centre for the Arts in Human Development (CAHD) recently recognized Gary Schwartz, a part-time faculty member in the Department of Music, for his many years of participation as a band member in CAHD's original musical theatre performances. The honour was presented to Gary at the graduation ceremony of the Centre's 8th group of participants on April 17, 2013. The graduates were adults with developmental disabilities who completed the Centre's 3-year program in creative arts therapies. Concordia alumna Shelley Snow, musical director of these productions and music therapist at CAHD, paid tribute to his commitment and creative contributions to the Centre's last 8 productions in her dedication speech:

"Gary's consummate musical skill as a guitarist and open heart are a winning combination, and we've been extremely fortunate to have had him on board for all of these years. Gary has been with me all the way, bending, adapting, and improvising to do whatever it takes to help our actors shine."
