Alice Ming Wai Jim joins the Provost’s Circle of Distinction

The Department of Art History is pleased to announce professor Alice Ming Wai Jim’s induction into the Provost’s Circle of Distinction. The Provost’s Circle of Distinction was established in 2008 and it recognizes the accomplishments of faculty members who have received exceptional honours from external bodies. Most recently, Jim was elected to the 2019 class of the Royal Society of Canada where she joined the College of New Scholars. As Concordia University Research Chair in Ethnocultural Art Histories (2017-2022) and founding co-editor-in-chief of the international journal Asian Diasporic Visual Cultures and the Americas, Jim’s impact on the Concordia community is greatly felt. Her research on diasporic art in Canada and contemporary Asian art has generated new dialogues within and between ethnocultural and global art histories, critical race theory, media arts and curatorial studies. Leaving a lasting impression on her students, Jim has also been recognized through the Distinguished Teaching Award in 2014.
