Departments of Music, Contemporary Dance, and Theatre present 60x60 Concordia 2017

60x60 is a one-hour long sequence of 60 one-minute-long pieces without pause. This format was created by Robert Voisey of Vox Novus in 2003 and has been presented in multiple formats worldwide hundreds of times In its initial format, 60x60 was fixed (audio only), but in 2005 it transformed into a multidisciplinary (and interdisciplinary) event, most prominently with video and dance components. In 2008, the Canadian version of 60x60 was established at Concordia in collaboration with Vox Novus and was presented in multiple formats, including several dance shows.

In 2010, it was performed at Concordia's FoFA gallery with dance and video in a continuous 10-hour (600x60) format, which set a world record for most composers (600) programmed in a single show. In 2013, the Canadian 60x60 was presented to a full house audience at the DB Clarke theatre, in a format incorporating music, dance, theatre, and video, sometimes in large groups and sometimes without a single person on stage. !

Concordia students, including EaSt’s James Finnerty as music/audio director, managed most of the production aspects of this show, including mix, choreography, theatrics, design, and lighting. The exclusively Concordia student-based 60x60music/dance/theatre/video format began in 2014.

The performance took place Wednesday February 1st, 2017 at the DB Clarke Theatre.

This year's macro-composers are Cass Beauvais and Danil Ulmashev.
