Le Journal de Montréal quotes Daniel Salée, professor in the Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Arts and Science, from his appearance before the Viens Commision, struck in the wake of allegations of abuse of Indigenous women by Sûreté du Québec police officers in the Val-d'Or area. Salée told the Commission d’enquête sur les relations entre les Autochtones et certains services publics au Québec that the provincial government must engage in introspection in regards to its relations with Indigenous communities.
