Reading Lab in Political Theory - Call for Applications

Reading Lab in Political Theory

Call for Applications

The Reading Lab in Political Theory invites applications from undergraduate students interested in participating in an extracurricular study group during the 2017-18 academic year. Sponsored by the Institute for Liberal Studies and the Political Science Students’ Association, the Reading Lab will meet on a weekly basis for fifteen weeks to discuss ancient, modern, and contemporary texts in political philosophy. Meetings will be open to members only, and space will be limited in order to ensure that everyone in attendance may participate during every session and benefit from skills development.

Regular meeting times for 2017-18 are on Wednesdays from 4:15 to 6:00pm, across Fall and Winter terms. Additional events and activities will be scheduled throughout the year. Continued membership will be contingent on regular attendance.

To apply, submit a short statement of interest to Professor Travis D. Smith at travis.smith@concordia.ca. In 250 words or less, make a case for your suitability and outline your reasons for wanting to be involved. Include reference to your favourite authors and subjects of inquiry.

Applications are due at 5:00pm on Monday, October 16. Meetings will begin on Wednesday, October 18.

In order to facilitate freedom of discussion, the Reading Lab is conducted under the Chatham House Rule.
