  • Congolese army killed two ADF rebels on January 10.
  • The army also recovered weapons and a bomb, this  took place in the village of Topoke.

  • On January 9, the FARDC continued deployment of soldiers in Ikobo, North Kivu.
  • For nearly 10 years the Rwandan rebels, FDLR have occupied the area.
  • The deployment of FARDC is said to be progressive.

  • January 13, 4 Congolese army men were killed in Beni.
  • The ADF rebels are accused of the attack, which took place in Oipra.
2. DRC: 7.5 Million people need humanitarian assistance in 2016

  • According to the UN, in 2016, 7.5 Million people need humanitarian assistance in the DRC. This is 9% of the population.
  • The UN says successive shocks have only intensified.
  • There is an increase in extreme vulnerability from violence, conflicts, outbreaks from epidemics, malnutrition and food insecurity.
  • Over 1.6 million people have been internally displaced, fleeing from violence and conflict.
