Co-Chairs’ Summary Experts’ Roundtable on the Myanmar/Bangladesh Crisis

On Monday, April 16, the Human Rights Research and Education Centre (HRREC) at the University of Ottawa in collaboration with MIGS hosted representatives of thirty humanitarian and human rights organizations, think tanks and academia together with Rohingya advocacy groups to discuss the current crisis, in particular its humanitarian, protection, criminal and other dimensions including the prospect for eventual return. The impetus for the meeting was Bob Rae’s recent final report as Canada’s Special Envoy to Myanmar. The meeting not only addressed the immediate challenges, but considered the root causes and the broader implications for international peace, security and development.
