Faculty member Arpi Hamalian and Child Studies student Meghri Bakarian are mentioned in a Globe & Mail article about Meghri’s sister, Shoushi, a Concordia student in aerospace engineering.

Prof. Hamalian was a mentor for the Bakarian sisters when their family arrived as refugees from Syria. In addition to doing a BA in Child Studies and a minor in Linguistics, Meghri is president of the Syrian Students Association  and Vice President of the Armenian students association at Concordia.  She also works at a refugee centre and works multiple jobs each term. Besides her studies and employment, Meghri creates artistic works . Congratulations to the Bakarians and to Prof. Hamalian for her generous mentorship!
