Explore Montréal: Little Italy, the Jean-Talon Market and Jarry Park
Little Italy is home to Italian Canadian-owned shops and restaurants, the Jean-Talon Market, as well as the Church of the Madonna della Difesa, built by Italian immigrants. Montreal has the second largest Italian population in Canada after Toronto.
The Jean-Talon market opened to the public in 1933. The market is open year-round, even during Montreal's severe winters. During the peak summer period, between May and October, its open-air areas are occupied by roughly 300 vendors, mostly farmers from the countryside around Montreal. A great place to find fresh and local produce, cheeses, meats, fish, etc.
Jarry Park’s facilities include softball, cricket and soccer fields, a skate park, tennis and basketball courts, a public pool and an artificial lake.
