From Bill 151 to life on campus: a conversation on the gap between sexual violence policy and everyday experience
Participate in a discussion and workshop on sexual ethics. Jon Waind, assistant professor in the Department of Theological Studies, will lead a conversation on the questions raised by the implementation of Bill 151 on campus. Jennifer Drummond, coordinator of the Sexual Assault Resource Centre, will simultaneously facilitate a care package-making activity to support survivors and provide information about support services available on and off campus.
Bill 151, also titled “An Act to prevent and fight sexual violence in higher education institutions,” requires faculty, staff and students of Quebec universities to undergo training in sexual violence awareness and prevention. This training is an important first step toward fostering a campus environment free from sexual violence.
This event provides a space to explore further challenges to transforming a university campus culture away from sexual violence that include questions about the meaning of sexual violence, ethical relationships and a safe and respectful campus. Join others if you have done the training and are interested to be part of further advancing this important conversation.
