Haiti Betrayed
Elaine Brière / Canada / 2019 / 90 ' / English — French / partial subtitles in English

Haiti has been fighting for its right to self-governance for centuries. Yet, the international organizations mandated to support world peace have worked together to keep the country in shackles. Seven years in the making, Elaine Brière’s film meticulously reconstructs Canada’s role in the events that culminated in the United Nations-sanctioned coup d’état on February 29, 2004, and the bloody aftermath that followed.
