The Chekhovian acting project is an exploration of 20th century realism presented through three condensed plays: Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov, Secret Rapture by David Hare and Downtime by Harry Standjofski. Each is set within its own time period - early 19th century, 1980’s Britain and early Canadian 2000’s. Performed by a strong ensemble cast of 14 actors, the focus has been on developing personal narratives and clear character arcs. The plays are linked not only by their genre but through themes of family obligation, loyalty and betrayal, shattered illusions and the ways we in which we deceive ourselves.
Presented in the Cazalet Theatre at Concordia’s Loyola Campus
