Music Research Talks Series: Sandeep Bhagwati (Concordia)
wording music, musicking words
When music and words come together, they mostly do so in missionary position – as a song. But might there not be a richer erotic, ‘twixt verbal & sonic? For over 40 years, in poems, compositions, libretti, operas, essays, installations and spatial theatres of sound, light, and words, Sandeep Bhagwati has creatively toyed with such fertile engagements – works of adult entertainment to both heart and mind. Come prepared to listen through poems, to read into music – and to discover new sonopoetic delights in their intertwined moves.
