Title: Software Composition in a Cyber-physical World

Cyber-physical systems are surrounding ourselves with the multiplication of smart buildings, smart campuses, smart cities… In this talk, I’ll present the SmartCampus infrastructure we developed at Université Côte d’Azur until 2018 to experiment with sensor networks. Then, I’ll describe how software composition mechanisms are essential to support the development of new “smart applications”, leveraging the existing sensor network by reusing it when possible. I’ll also describe large-scale experiments made with the FIT-IoT lab platform to validate how composition behaves in large-scale deployments.
Sébastien Mosser is Professor of Software Engineering at Université du Québec à Montréal since 2019. During the last six years at Université Côte d’Azur, he was heading the Software Architecture MSc program. He also led researches on software composition applied to various domains, e.g., cyber-physical systems, data visualization, and service engineering. At UQAM, his research interests rely on software engineering at large scale, emphasizing the role of software composition to decompose large-scale challenges and then automatically assemble the resulting system.
